GET STARTED EVENTING

 

Never Evented Before? . . .Here is how to get started!

Prerequisites:

You must be willing to have a lot of fun!
Your horse must be a minimum of 4 years of age.
Equine Canada sport license with a Canadian Eventing membership (bronze $20.00 for starter levels). When you purchase your “sport license (EVENTING) you will receive the current year “omnibus”. This is your INFORMATION handbook. It contains:
Rules and regulations.
Dressage tests- for each level of competition.
Eventing entry forms and stabling forms.AHTA Membership (click here for form). Please note: All ponyclub or 4-H members are entitled to participate in 1 event or clinic without requiring an AHTA Membership, find the form here. Any additional competitions/clinics require either a $30.00 Temporary Membership or a full AHTA Membership. For the NO Fee Pony Club/4-H Promotions, all show results will be counted for the YEAR END AWARDS with the subsequent purchase of an AHTA membership.
Required Equipment: medical arm band (Available through Equine Canada), cross country vest (Available from you local tack store), pinny (Available from event organizers at the event site or UFA)

Introductory Divisions:

Starter Division (provincial division)

Dressage Tests: Any test of suitable level. Canter may be required. Enclosed ring.
Maximum Dimensions of Obstacles: Height – 60 cm Spread – similar to pre-entry level
No obstacles without height
No water
No drops
Speeds and distances:Cross-country – 350 metres per minute maximum; approximately 1 km
Stadium – 350 metres per minute maximumOther Specifications:No combinations
Maximum of 10-12 cross-country efforts

Simple jumps with easy access

Pre-Entry Division (provincial division)
